It has been almost two years since the first reveal of the upcoming Avengers Project developed by Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics in partnership with Marvel. Back in 2017, Square Enix announced the game with a teaser trailer and since then it has been dead silent. Until this morning where the official site updated for the first time in 20 months.
The site has been changed with most notably, a press release added announcing the collaboration with Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal. While the press release does not reveal anything major, the timing of the update goes hand-in-hand with a few tweets speculating that the game’s official reveal may take place during the Game Awards 2018.
When you browse the “Projects” page on the site there is a “new” banner over the “Avengers Project”. Eric Monacelli, Senior Producer at Marvel Games, tweeted that he “cannot wait to share” what they have been working on with the world. But the teases don’t end there. Becka Mcinsstosh, head of operations at Marvel Games also tweeted something on the same day saying;
“Today’s been a freaking badass day. So many crazy-awesome things coming from amazingly talented people across the game industry. So proud to have them in the
@MarvelGames family & can’t wait to share them with y’all! #MarvelGames #gaminglife #myjobisntajob
We will just have to wait and see if an announcement comes out of The Game Awards 2018 or not. Check out the latest trailer below and cross your fingers while you are at it.
