Things just don’t seem to look up for BioWare’s new game. In a Reddit post to update fans of the game about where the Anthem roadmap and other updates are at, BioWare has conceded that it will not be meeting its previously announced deadlines for pretty much all of the promised features.
As BioWare noted, it’s been 10 weeks since early access was granted to Anthem, which wasn’t received very well by the gaming community. Bugs, crashes and even reports that the game bricks consoles were some of the issues that have plagued Anthem since launch, which has been 7 years in the making. These fixes have been what the team has been focussing on and are apparently the reason why there are so many delays in terms of promised updates and content.
Admitting that the game isn’t what it should be, BioWare also had to deliver the news that it’s not going to be able to meet it’s Anthem roadmap deadlines and are delaying the following features:
- Mastery System
- Legendary Missions – Phase II
- Weekly Stronghold Challenge
- Some Freeplay Events
Cataclysm was supposed to go live in the game in May, but now BioWare has said that it will only “talk more” about the new feature in May.
Despite wanting to reassure or perhaps update fans, BioWare has now left most of the Anthem roadmap plans up in the air. Its update on Reddit doesn’t provide new plans, nor does it mention new dates.
A lesson we have learned is we have been talking about things too early. There are so many factors that can cause us to pivot on our plans – whether it’s bugs & stability issues, player feedback, or complications with a feature that require us to take more time to deliver it. Our goal is to tell you about new content and features once the work is closer to being done.
Apart from delaying some Anthem roadmap features, BioWare also admitted that the game’s loot system is broken. But doesn’t provide details on what it’s planning to do to fix it.
We have heard your concerns around end game loot. We agree that our loot and progression systems need to be improved and we are working towards this. When we have more information to share, we will.
BioWare concluded that many fans will probably be upset about the Anthem roadmap delays, but asked fans to stick by the game.
Are you over Anthem or will you stick around to see how BioWare fixes it?
