The Nintendo Switch launched more than two years ago and we haven’t seen a price drop. It is the one thing that is probably keeping many gamers from getting the console as it costs quite a lot, especially in South Africa, where we haven’t seen any significant sales for the device. Those who want nothing more than to play the Switch exclusives but the console simply isn’t in their budget might soon have another option. According to reports, a cheaper Nintendo Switch could launch this June.
There have been rumours about this cheaper Nintendo Switch in the past. Now, a Bloomberg report (according to their sources) states that this smaller, budget-friendly Nintendo Switch will be arriving in late June. This new Nintendo Switch version is reportedly smaller and some rumours suggest that it will be handheld only, while others such as the Nikkei report says otherwise.
Further, there is apparently also a slightly upgraded version of the Nintendo Switch in the works. This won’t be a huge leap in performance like we saw with the Xbox One X and could also release before the end of this year. Keep in mind that you should always take reports like this with a grain of salt until such time as Nintendo officially reveals the new consoles. At the time of writing, we have no idea what the cheaper Nintendo Switch will cost and obviously, there is no indication how much it will cost in Rand. Hopefully, it will be at least 20% cheaper, otherwise it could be a bit of a waste and gamers can just save up an extra month to purchase the original.
Would you be in the market for a cheaper Nintendo Switch and which exclusive would you play first? Let us know in the comment section below.
