Dota 2: Frostivus Will Return This Year

Frostivus

Dota 2 players don’t get to look forward to a lot of special events. Sure, we had the Underhollow but that was only for people who threw their wallets at Valve to purchase a Battle Pass. That is, in part, why I am excited to report that Frostivus will definitely return this year.

If you are relatively new to Dota 2,  you might think that Frostivus is a yearly thing, but that isn’t the case. The event first took place in 2012 and again in 2013. However, then Valve decided to skip three years in a row (guess they can count to three…). Last year, we saw the return of Frostivus and it was quite awesome with a variety of minigames to enjoy.

In 2012, we had The Greeviling game mode and in 2013 we had the Wraith Night game mode, then last year we had the Frostivus Festival and I, for one, think it was the best one yet. Valve announced the Frostivus will return in a Tweet where they reminded workshop artists about a deadline, simply stating that: “Workshop artists, don’t forget to submit your items before the deadline –Frostivus returns mid-December.”

At the time of writing, we don’t know what Valve is planning for this year’s event. They could stick with the Festival game mode and just add more minigames, or they could do something entirely new as well. Hopefully, we will know more soon, as I’m hoping for the return of the Festival with minigames such as Pudge Wars, Spirit Breaker Race, Techies Knockout (don’t judge me), Chain Frost Tag and many more.

Do you hope to see the return of the minigames or something completely new? Which was your favourite Frostivus so far? Let us know in the comment section below.
