Just a few weeks ago in SA, history was made as the constitutional court ruled that marijuana was now legal to use in private. The announcement was a huge deal as potheads all over the country rejoiced over the feeling of finally being able to smoke the drug without the fear of being arrested and fined. Now, we are not saying you should quit your job and become a weed-selling tycoon but Devolver’s new game looks pretty fun and if only things were as simple as they make it in gaming.
Dubbed as “Weedcraft Inc”, this tycoon game developed by Vile Monarch, the team behind Crush your Enemies and the insult simulator Oh…Sir! will have players manage and grow their own company. The thing is, your company specializes in the growing and distribution of weed. Weedcraft Inc will see players experimenting with different strains of the plant, the corruption behind the drug deals, and the American government trying to intervene with your business.
Don’t get this twisted, this is not a game about an underground drug ring trying to sell weed to kids and cause problems in your neighbourhood, rather, this game is focused on the promotion of recreational marijuana and the effects it has on an economy. You are an actual authorized marijuana plant and have to face daily challenges of growing your unique strains and getting by with all the legal red tape surrounding the drug.
An important, controversial topic presented in an insightful and detailed manner, Weedcraft Inc presents a challenge to those would rule the reefer offering a series of diverse scenarios and unique characters to work with (or around) as your budding empire grows. Whether you choose to hobnob with politicians, pay off the po-po, fight for medical marijuana rights or work the legal system, it’s all in the name of the sticky icky and your cutthroat corporate profits.
The game has no current release date but it will be headed to PC in 2019 sometime.
