Spyro Reignited Trilogy Download Requirements Clarified By Activision

Spyro Reignited Trilogy Download

There’s been a lot of speculation and some fans have been upset about Spyro Reignited Trilogy. In case you missed it, earlier this year it looked like only the first game would be on the physical copy discs, while both Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. would require a download to play. It’s been a whole, unnecessary mess to be honest, but now, the Spyro Reignited Trilogy Download Requirements have been clarified.

Activision has clarified the situation, as reported by IGN. There will, in fact, be a Day One update for the game when it releases on 13 November for PS4 and Xbox One. How big the update will exactly remain to be seen, but we now know what the update will entail.

Activision told IGN that:

The trilogy will ship with content from each of the three games, including the entire first game and a subset of levels from games 2 and 3. In order for the full Reignited Trilogy offerings, a day one update is required.

So, not all levels for Spyro: Ripto’s Rage and Spyro: Year of the Dragon will be included on the disc and you will indeed need to download the others if you purchase a physical copy. Activision further confirmed that those purchasing the trilogy on disc but for some reason can’t connect their console to the internet, will be able to play the levels on the disc. However, they won’t be able to play the “full, original level suites” of Spyro: Ripto’s Rage and Spyro: Year of the Dragon.

Let’s face it, in this day and age a Day One update is the norm. However, one has to wonder that if it is a disc space issue, why Activision didn’t just go the same route as Rockstar went with RDR2, shipping the game with two discs. Is it to save costs or something different? That’s the question.

We will let you know as soon as Activision confirms the download size of the Day One update.

What do you think about the Spyro Reignited Trilogy Download Requirements and will you be getting a physical copy of the trilogy when it releases on 13 November? Let us know in the comment section below.
