NVIDIA’s next-gen GPUs based on the Turing architecture and supporting real-time Ray Tracing are almost here as they should arrive on the market later this month. We already know the specifications for the GeForceRTX 2080 and 2080 Ti, but official benchmarks remain elusive.
While we are still waiting for official video game benchmarks and tech reviewers are certainly prepping their massive reviews, a 3D Mark benchmark has “leaked”. Yes, I am saying “leaked” as there is reportedly a good chance this was leaked by NVIDIA themselves to build some hype, or at the very least from an AIB employee.
The reason for this is simple: at the time when this benchmark was leaked, there were no drivers Turing-based GPUs yet and the benchmark does look quite legitimate if you ask me. This was first reported byVideocardz and showcases the RTX 2080 Ti going up against the GTX 1080 Ti Founder’s Edition in the 3D Mark Time Spy benchmark.
Keep in mind that you should always take benchmarks like this one with a grain of salt until such time as official reviews become available, but check it out below anyway.
According to this leaked benchmark, the new flagship card from NVIDIA, the RTX 2080 Ti, will be roughly 35% faster than the GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition. If the benchmark is accurate, this means the RTX range doesn’t see that big of a generational jump as we are used to seeing.
For reference, the GTX 1080 Ti is nearly 80% faster than the GTX 980 Ti. Keep in mind that the RTX range does cost an arm and a leg, so if official reviews showcase the same results, it might not be an appealing upgrade except for the biggest of PC gaming enthusiasts.
What do you think about the leaked benchmark and the possibility that the RTX range’s flagship is only 35% faster than the previous generation flagship card? Let us know in the comment section below.
