One of the greatest Esports organizations ever, SK Telekom T1, plans to enter the PUBG scene

There is no doubt PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is a massive success and I, for one, continue to enjoy the game since it’s release in Early Access last year. As most of you probably know, the game broke free from Early Access to a full release on PC and it also made its way onto the Xbox One. One thing that did come as a bit of a surprise for me is how serious people are about PUBG as an Esport since there is still a lot of work to be done on the game. That’s why I am both surprised and excited about one of the greatest Esports teams of all time, SK Telekom T1, as they are in the process of creating their very own PUBG team. Why is this big news you might ask? Well, SK Telekom T1 is one of the oldest and most dominating eSports organizations ever created.

The organization is based in Korea and has dominated in multiple Esports titles since their inception in 2002 under the name Orion and the in 2004, the team was renamed due to their sponsorship by SK Telecom. At the moment, the organization is the dominating force in League of Legends, with three World Championship titles under their belt, as well as multiple StarCraft: Broodwar and StarCraft II trophies.

According to Korean news site Fomos, as translated and reported by Dotesports.com, SK Telekom T1 plans to have recruitment done and be ready to start playing by August 2018. That’s still quite a long way off, but the excitement for me is already building. The organization announced in May last year that they would be creating a new team, but until now, we had no clue as to which title they would pick.

An organization with such a pedigree with surely cause even more professional teams to follow in their footsteps and I predict that their involvement in PUBG tournaments will give the game an even bigger boost and take PUBG ESports to the next level.

What do you think about SK Telekom T1 creating their own PUBG team and which team/player from the organization is your favourite? Let us know in the comment section below.
