Last month, I reported on Half-Life series writer and former Valve employee, Marc Laidlaw, saying that Half-Life 3 would have probably not been the end of our favourite crowbar-wielding protagonist, Gordon Freeman.
As we all know, there has been no official word of Half-Life 2: Episode 3 or Half-Life 3 and many of us gamers have begun to believe that the game will never happen. Well, for those who just want to know how the story might have ended, Mr Laidlaw has published a very interesting read on his personal website.
The story synopsis is, of course, fan-fiction and portrayed as a letter from a physicist Gertrude Fremont, which is quite an obvious reference. You can read an extract from the post below.

You can read the full fan-fiction post archived here since Mr Laidlaw’s website has been under a lot of stress to what I can only expect to be very high traffic volumes. Keep in mind that this is just fiction from the ex-writer at Valve, fan-fiction if you will.
Even so, it is a very interesting read, something I think many Half-Life fans would enjoy. Fair word of warning though, the story won’t offer you closure on all the topics in the Half-Life universe.
